Can Texas Make It?

April 6, 2009

Much to my surprise; I have had conversations with people where they ponder whether or not Texas would be able to make it as its own nation – in regard to its resources, that is. In order to determine this, I have done a little research to find out exactly what Texas has to offer. So, here are some facts about Texas:

-Texas ranks first in U.S. cotton production.(Houston is the largest inland cotton market on earth.) Cotton generates $1.6 billion for farmers, with a state-wide economic impact of $5.2 billion.

-Texas is the only state to have two cities among the 10 most populous urban centers in the U.S.  Houston number 5 and Dallas 8th.

-Texas has around 13 million cattle. It sends more beef to market than any other state and leads in sheep production as well.

-Texas is the number-one producer of crude oil in the U.S. Texas contains over one third of the nation’s dwindling oil reserves.

-Texas has over 65% of the defense industry of the U.S. We have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. The Texas Army National Guard is composed of approximately 15,000 soldiers, and maintains 117 armories in 102 communities. (Don’t Mess with Texas)

-We currently lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications small companies like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Miconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi , Nortel, Alcatel, etc, etc.

-Medical Care – We have the largest research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. Dallas has some of the best hospitals in the United States .

-We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables, and let’s not forget seafood from the Gulf.

-NASA is just south of Houston, Texas. We will control the space industry.

-Texas has shipping ports that are ready to go for international trade via the Gulf of Mexico.

And so the question really shouldn’t be “Can Texas survive on it’s own?”, but rather, “Can the U.S. survive without Texas?”

Sam Houston is actually quoted as saying, “Texas could survive without the United States, but the United States could not survive without Texas!”

Yes please, do the rest of the country a favor and secede.
Have fun paving your own roads, policing your cities, fighting your fires without federal dollars (or by not taxing your own citizens)

Count me in!!! My family and friends have been discussing moving to another country. We would much rather stay in our own and turn our backs on this overinflated, egotistical and arrogant government. WE are no longer FREE, we can’t stand up for ourselves and we are sinking in the mire of oppression while the government continues to stand on our heads! I’m 50 years old and I am tired. Let’s just do it!

On a recent return flight from Europe, I read an article, that was in NO WAY political, in the Continental magazine they place in the seat back pockets. It stated that ‘IF’ Texas were it’s own economy, we would have the 12th largest economy of the WORLD!! Now that’s saying something!

HAHA you guys are idiots. Please do the country a favor and leave. Have fun ruling space with NASA & no government funding. Not to mention all the troops who are sworn to protect the US , not Texas, I guess they would all have to leave, so there goes your whole border patrol argument. Plus that would allow more federal funding for the rest of the nation. I am all for you arrogant d-bags to leave. Where do i sign? To bad you guys didn’t do that earlier, NY would have been saved because your retarded home bred leaders would have made Texas the target and not NY.
